Ministries
One of the ways we are walking out our calling as a house of prayer is through the various ministries which have been born out of our prayer room.
As we continue to grow and develop as a house of prayer, the list and variety of our ministries will continue to grow and mature. Our key areas of ministry are listed below.
Intercessory Prayer
We believe that Jesus sits at the right hand of God making intercession for us according to Romans 8.34. We are His beloved bride and He will fight for us! He will also give revelations and strategies to reach our generation, stand, and take back what has been stolen from us.
Intercessory prayer is one of many types of prayer. When we intercede in prayer, we are coming to God with prayers on behalf of others. At The Altar, we most often pray the type of prayer where intercessors and musicians are flowing together with the heart of God concerning an issue.
As we we come into agreement with the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, we are able to pray according to the Father’s heart on a matter. We believe that as we do this, the prayers we pray will be answered because we are praying according to God’s will.
Harp & Bowl Worship
At The Altar IHOP, Meadville, we do what is called “Harp and Bowl.”
The term “Harp and Bowl” comes from Rev. 5:8-9…“Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song”…
In each session, we have either an individual or a team that is made up of musicians, singers, and intercessors from different churches minister to the Lord for one and two hour sessions. During each session, we pray for the sick and other requests of the people present in the room and requests sent in to us. We also pray for a specific country, city, or church each session. Sometimes the session may be totally focused on ministering to the Lord by singing scriptures back to Him.
